Being a parent in this day and age means that you will be watching a lot of movies.
I don’t watch TV or see movies much anymore, but best believe that when I do, it’s normally going to be some kind of kid movie. And 95% of the time it’s a Disney movie.
Now I’ll admit, I’m a sucker for a good Disney movie. It’s no secret that Disney has is problematic issues (let’s not even get into that right now because I just don’t have the energy), but at the end of the day many of their movies are really enjoyable with great lessons in them.
So without further ado,
Here are 5 of my favorite Disney movies.
(These are in no specific order and are not my 5 favorite Disney movies of all time. These are just the movies that my girls and I have been watching a lot recently.)
I love this movie so stinkin’ much you guys! I love everything about this movie. The concept, the lesson, the characters, and it’s just the cutest little movie.
The moral of the story (that I got out of it) is to love yourself for who you are, don’t change yourself to “fit in” as well as to treat others how you want to be treated.
My girls absolutely love this movie, they watch it at least two times a day when I need them to take a break from running around the house all day.
Fun Fact: Lea (my oldest daughter) now goes around asking people if they are a hobo because of this movie lol.
This is another movie that I absolutely adore. I loved that they stayed pretty true to the New Orleans culture.
Now I’m a Cali girl, but from what I know about New Orleans, I got that feeling from the movie with the magic, voodoo, music and I loved it.
Tiana was a beautiful hard-working woman that was going to do whatever it took to get that restaurant she wanted and ended up falling in love in the process.
Even though Prince Naveen was a self-centered, music loving, young man he was willing to change and work to make Tiana his and to get her the restaurant, and that was just beautiful to me.
The most memorable (and my favorite) character was for sure Ray the firefly.
He was goofy, so full of life and I immediately got attached to him as soon as he was introduced. And when he got stepped on by that lame voodoo man I freakin’ balled my eyes out.
I was heart broken and couldn’t deal, and I still cry every time. But when it showed that he became a star in the sky with his love, that only made me cry harder but it was just a bit of a bittersweet moment for me.
Either way, I absolutely love this movie.
I don’t know about you, but I love any and everything that has to do with islands, island living, and Polynesian culture. I have not yet been to Hawaii, but this movie made me want to go even more.
I never knew I could love a character as much as I loved Moana. She is super sweet, caring, and is passionate about the things and people she cares about.
The love she has for her grandmother was super relateable and I appreciated the fact that even after her passing, her grandmother supported and encouraged Moana to keeping going and fight to save her island.
The music in this movie was very enjoyable as well. Even after watching it a million times, I never get tired of them (*cough* unlike with Frozen *cough*) and sing along every time. My favorite song is the one when the crab was singing lol.
Overall this movie is one that every child should see and I know they will love it too.
Now this movie is one that I confuse myself about. The thing is, is that I honestly do not like a lot of the characters in this movie. And sadly Rapunzle is one of them.
Now I do not dislike Rapunzle as a whole, but more like the traits that she possessed.
For example, I didn’t like that she was so naive and clueless, but at the same time, it only makes sense that she is that way because she was kept in a tower her whole life.
But that’s just me being picky because I dislike characters like that.
Strangely enough though, I absolutely loved Flynn Rider and I laugh so much whenever I admit it. I think I like him so much because he reminds me so much of my Fiance lol (without all of the robbing though).
I think that the story over all is just really enjoyable, and I don’t think of the story really being about a princess being saved by a man. No, I see it more like they saved each other and I always boo hoo cry everytime Flynn gets stabbed and when he’s dying he says, “You were my dream.”
My heart is getting heavy just thinking about it.
Anyway, I absolutely love this movie.
I could go on and on about Disney movies I love.
I love so many of them and children can get so many things from these movies and interpret them in so many different ways.
These are just a few of my girls and I’s favorites. What are some of you and your kids favorite Disney movies? Let me know down in the comments.
Thank you for reading and I’ll see you in my next post.
