Staying True To My Blog

Staying True To My Blog

In December, I was so excited to get back into blogging. I had so many different ideas about the direction that I wanted to take this blog in.

I even had a plan to re-brand and created a whole new blog.

At that time (when I started blogging again,) I wasn’t happy with my domain name, and once I started working on my new blog, I couldn’t bring myself to really change anything about this blog.

This is my very first blog and I honestly really love it despite all of the things that I wanted to change about it just last month. I think at some point I had forgotten the true reason as to why I even started this blog.

This blog has really become my baby, and I know that it has so much potential…That I have so much potential to make this blog successful.

I also had planned to post three days a week and really stick with a schedule, but that just doesn’t work for me. I am the kind of person that can not force myself to do something when I don’t feel like it.

Well…I can, but I really don’t like doing that because it starts to feel like work, I don’t enjoy it, and it pushes me away from doing something that I love.

I’m at a point in my life where I am busier than ever, and though I love blogging, I just don’t have too much extra time to do it. The times that I do write for this blog are on my breaks at lunch, when I wake up at 4 am before I go to the gym and late at night after my kids go to bed.

And in the times that I do write, I am normally really tired (not during my work breaks though) so it can take me a couple of days to finish a post. And I won’t force myself to write when I don’t feel up to it because I know it will not be of good quality.

So recently I have come to the conclusion that I will no longer force myself to stick to a strict posting schedule. I don’t want to take the enjoyment out of blogging for me anymore.

With that being said, I am really looking forward to working on this blog again and bringing you guys some great content.

Have you ever loved doing something, but found it difficult to actually make time to do it? Let me know down in the comments, and I’ll see you in my next one!

It’s important t let your passion drive you in all aspects of life! I say go with your heart and it won’t lead you astray. Besides, we all know the quality is better than quantity. BTW, I <3 this blog design!

I truly love this! Girl, I’m right there with you. While I want to be consistent, I want to write when it feels right! You’ve got this! Can’t wait to read more!

Listen, your blog will be successful because you are a genuine person. You never hesitate to spread the love and make people feel appreciated. I’ll be right here whenever you get centered and are able to create more content.

I know exactly how you feel. If you put pressure on yourself to write it could burn you out and stop you posting altogether.

I’ve done this to myself so many times in the past and it’s an awful feeling.

You should definitely write when it feels right for you, and keep creating the content that you are happy with! 🙂

Your post is great and I love the honesty.

Yes, I was struggling, also. Until someone shared their calendar with me. This still may feel like work to you, so Chuck the idea if you don’t like it, but he shared that he scheduled his “create” time, then separately scheduled his “edit/grab pix/post” time. I also schedule my “learning” time. It has made me so much more productive and I am able to post more.

I have also signed up for Cision and put my themes in, so the pr ppl who contact me with request for book reviews or guest posts etc already know what my blog is about and mostly I don’t get irrelevant stuff pitched for a guest post. I have loved having already-made content that I just add a few sentences of intro and closing for my readers so they know I endorsed the content with them in mind and didn’t just randomly post it.

I love your blog colors and setup, too, by the way!

This is a great post. It’s really important to do the things we enjoy and not so much of the things we don’t enjoy where possible and practical.

When I set up my blog, I did all the hard work of getting the look right and feel correct, and then I couldn’t write any posts! I’d never had writer’s block before, so I didn’t understand what was happening. I knew the ideas, the titles, but couldn’t even put the first paragraph together. I knew I wanted it to be fun again, I didn’t want to have a blog that was all looks an no substance so I had to work out how to get writing and keep it up.

I decided to do a challenge. I’m good at challenges and did them before I did a blog. The challenge has its own theme for my audience, but what it means for me is that I HAVE to come up with fresh content each and every day, or at least know what I’ll write in advance and get on with writing it. When the challenge is over, I’ll have inertia and will continue to write two posts a week quite easily after having written 28 over 28 days. In the meantime, I have to remain accountable to my audience and my content needs to be there each day of the challenge.

I have to work around my two sons who live with me (I have another one at university and one who lives with his fiance and children), I also have a funeral business, my husband, mother and sister who I’m very close to. I do my blogging around that. It means that I can either be up very late or very early. I don’t mind at the moment because it’s only at this rate for a few more weeks.

I like your theme and I’m pleased that you showed up on Twitter when you did. I’m following you on Instagram and on here too. I’m looking forward to your next post and I don’t mind when you post it – I know it will be a treat.
