I’m sure that at some point, you have heard of “The Terrible Two’s,” and if you haven’t let me fill you in.
The Terrible Two’s are basically when a child reaches the age of two and they start going completely bonkers!
They are getting into things that their not supposed to, giving you back sass, etc. Sometimes they will even strip butt naked and start running around the house dancing and telling you, “Catch me!”
Well….at least that’s how it is with my two year old Lea.
I’m the oldest of six, and pretty much raised three of them from babies, but none of them acted this way. They were all very reserved, so I was completely unprepared for my rambunctious daughter.
And honestly, she’s driving me nuts!
I love my little girls to pieces, but she gets a big kick at causing havoc around the house, and I have no idea what I should do about it.
She loves taking the chairs and climbing on the counters so she can get to snacks. She loves to tell my fiance and I no. She loves ignoring us when we tell her not to do things. The list goes on and on.
We ask her things in the nicest ways, we have tried being stern, spankings (which I hate), timeouts. Nothing works.
But the moment we raise our voice the tiniest bit above normal, she’s crying and goes running to her bedroom.
We let her cry it out and ignore her little hissy fits, but there is only so much we can do.
And not only that, no one has ever told me that back sass and attitude starts at such a young age.
Of course I have reflected and wondered have I been doing those kind of things because kids mimic the things they see their parents do. But I am very reserved and it takes a lot to get me upset so I don’t think that is the problem.
Maybe it is just because it is a phase. I don’t know just yet, but I am hoping it will pass soon enough.
I’m just so thankful that Ella (my other daughter) is very reserved and quiet because her sister definitely causes enough trouble for the both of them lol.
If you have any suggestions to help me survive the terrible two’s, please don’t hesitate to let me know down in the comments. See you in my next one!
